Provide Canadians an opportunity to participate in the act of remembrance to honour the sacrifices of our veterans.
Every year, our volunteers help clean the grave markers of veterans. We provide the cleaning supplies, and you provide the muscle! This is an excellent opportunity to give back as a family and participate in our community, demonstrating we will never forget.
Operation Restoration was informally started in 2020 when Daniel Yaassoub recognized the state of disrepair that our veteran's grave markers were in. Dan worked with the Edmonton Police Cadets and launched an initiative to restore those markers to a pristine condition.
Since that time, we have been incorporated as an official non-profit organization, and have enlisted the help of hundreds of volunteers working on cleaning grave markers throughout the Edmonton area. Our goal is to expand until we are able to cover all the major cemeteries across Canada.
Volunteering to support our organization only involves some time and energy at our annual events. You can bring your family and participate in this community-oriented event, giving back to those who sacrificed so much for our amazing country. It is said that we die twice, once when you take your final breath, and then again the last time someone says your name.
Taking the time to clean a veteran's grave and saying their name keeps their memory alive just a little longer and honours their sacrifice.
If you are available on August 26, 2023, we will be cleaning veteran grave markers from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Edmonton City Cemetery, 11820 107 Avenue. Please consider registering. Thank you!
